Oil-fired heating coils can release rust, scale, and other debris into the water stream. If that material reaches the internal gears of a rotating cleaning head, it can interfere with operation.
The stainless steel Y Filter is installed inline before the cleaning head to help capture debris before it enters the head. This added filtration helps protect internal components and reduce debris-related interruptions.

When to Use a Y Filter
A high-pressure inline Y filter is recommended when rust, scale or other debris may be present in the water supply before it reaches a rotating cleaning head.
It is especially useful with heated pressure-washer systems, where debris from heating coils can travel downstream and interfere with the cleaning head’s internal components.
