Why An Inline Filter Matters

Why an Inline High-Pressure Filter Matters
A small amount of debris entering your rotating cleaning head can create a much bigger problem. An inline high-pressure filter adds an important layer of protection between your pressure washer and your cleaning equipment.
Your pressure washer may be delivering clean-looking water, but that doesn’t mean small particles aren’t traveling through the system. Rust, scale, and other debris can reach the internal components of your cleaning head if they aren’t filtered out first.
Protect the Cleaning Head
Small Debris Can Cause Big Problems
Rotating cleaning heads rely on internal passages and moving components to operate correctly. When debris makes its way into the head, it can interfere with the internal mechanism and interrupt normal operation.
This is especially important when using a hot-water pressure washer with a traditional heating coil. Rust, scale, and other debris can break loose from the heating system and travel downstream toward the cleaning head.
Rust and other material can break loose and travel through the high-pressure system.
Scale and mineral particles can enter small passages and interfere with internal components.
Contamination reaching the internal gears can contribute to interrupted or inconsistent operation.
Keeping contaminants out of the head is easier than dealing with the damage they may cause later.
The Solution
Add an Inline High-Pressure Y-Strainer
A high-pressure Y-strainer is installed in the high-pressure water line before the cleaning head. Its job is simple: catch debris before that debris reaches the internal components of the head.
AaquaTools offers a stainless steel Y-strainer with a 1/2-inch connection, cleanout, and 100-mesh screen designed for this purpose.

Where Does the Filter Go?
The goal is to filter the high-pressure water before it reaches the cleaning head.
Don’t Forget the Filter
The Strainer Needs Maintenance Too
Installing a filter doesn’t mean you can forget about it. As the screen catches debris, it needs to be inspected and cleaned periodically.
A heavily restricted screen can reduce water flow through the system. If you notice a change in cleaning-head performance, the filter should be one of the first components you inspect.
Keeping the screen clean allows the strainer to protect the cleaning head without unnecessarily restricting the water supply.
Tech’s Take
Protect the Head Before Debris Gets There
Filtration is preventative maintenance. Catching rust, scale, and other particles before they reach the cleaning head can help prevent contaminants from interrupting the internal mechanism and creating unnecessary downtime.
